Females economic empowerment scheme (Fees)

FEES is a scheme of Train the Youth Effort (Tye) that aims to transform less fortunate female youth from abject poverty to enterprising market driven top careers for a greater economic independence and thus ensuringa more certain livelihood to them. FEES achieves its goal by empowering rural needy female youth with income generating skills that they (youth) employ to finance their training, then later these skills define their basis of living.

Beneficiaries are challenged to innovatively and enterprisingly think and apply the acquired knowledge and skills towards solving challenges before them. By the time a youth finishes with FEES, she is empowered enough to tackle most social challenges using the multi skills acquired.

The main goal of FEES is to demonstrate to the general public poor youth how they can cause change to such youth with a minimum support. FEES policy emphasizes high quality products capable of causing change to their communities. Bearing in mind the high costs involved in executing FEES, a smaller population is critically selected from a range of Ugandan top social challenges. Such have in past included civil wars (LRA), life threatening diseases (HIV/AIDS), domestic violence, religious conflicts (Kibwetere) and abject poverty.  Beneficiaries are selected on the basis of need and potentials for support.

The scheme is hosted and mentored at Tye Girls’ secondary School, in collaboration with Association for Schools of Kigarama (ASK). FEES extensively exposes such youth to several IGS up to a professional level along side the academics and leadership skills. FEES runs them from the primary to secondary and through the university levels. FEES believes that if properly assisted, students can productively utilize their free time at school to generate resources they need. Several youth have befitted from this in the past.
